The NCAA announced on Tuesday that Gator sharpshooter Lee Humphrey will receive a $7,500 postgraduate scholarship. Humphrey is one of 58 NCAA athletes to receive the award.
Humphrey earned a 3.68 grade point average in applied physiology. He is the two-time winner of the SEC Men's Basketball Scholar Athlete of the Year and earned ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America honors each of the last two years. He also earned a spot on the SEC Academic Honor Roll in each of his four seasons.
As a member of the Gators' back-to-back national championship basketball team, Humphrey averaged 10.3 points as a senior, starting all 40 games. He broke the school's all-time record for three-point shots made, making 288 throughout his career. And earlier this year, he broke the NCAA Tournament's all-time mark for career three-point shots made, knocking down 47 during his four tournament appearances.
Humphrey knocked down eight three-pointers during this year's Final Four, earning him a spot on the All-Final Four Team.
Humphrey is the 32nd Gator to receive the scholarship. The last was women's basketball player Sarah Lowe in 2006. Matt Bonner received the award in 2003.
