Three Muskegon County high school graduates each year will receive $5,000 scholarships for higher education under a new scholarship program.
The Ray B. Smith Rotary Memorial Scholarship was outlined for Muskegon Rotarians by Jeffrey Smith of Norton Shores, whose father, a longtime Cleveland Rotarian, died last year, leaving him $130,000.
In turn, Smith and his wife Sue have added to that and donated $200,000 to the Community Foundation for Muskegon County, which will administer the scholarship grants program and screen and select the three winners each year.
